Owners say 'changes to business environment' led to closure of Burnsall Park

Burnsall Park.

Wharfe House Car Park owners announced the closure of the park yesterday.

The Daggett family took to Facebook yesterday to share the sad news of the recent closure of the closing on Burnsall Park.

In their statement they shared the closure came about due to 'recent changes in the business environment and growing challenges'.

They shared that the facilities and field will be closed going forward and they have asked the public to respect the decision and refrain from entering the grounds and to keep to the Dales Way footpath.

They said:

"After over seven decades of service as a cherished local and tourist spot, Burnsall Park will permanently close its gates to the public.

"This decision comes with heavy hearts and deep appreciation for the memories shared here.

"While we've loved being part of so many summer memories over the years, recent changes in the business environment and growing challenges have led us to this point.

"Security measures will be in place to prevent trespassing.

"We are immensely grateful for all your support over the years, and we appreciate your understanding."

Local MP for Skipton and Ripon, Julian Smith, shared his statement on the closure.

He emphasised the importance of authorities such as Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority protecting areas like Burnsall from 'excessive visitor pressures'.

He said:

"Maintaining a safe and sustainable National Park is just as important as encouraging people to enjoy and visit it, and I hope the Park Authority will work closely with Burnsall Parish Meeting to achieve that balance.

"I have had positive discussions with both North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Council, and I am confident that they stand ready to support the Park Authority in fulfilling its responsibilities to protect local residents and ensure public safety."
