Residents encouraged to have their say on rural bus services

MP Julian Smith of Skipton and Ripon is encouraging residents to take part in a survey.

The survey launched by the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith, and aims to gather views on how bus services in rural and coastal areas could be improved.

It is open to everyone, including regular bus users, occasional passengers and those who do not currently use bus services.

The research is focusing on five areas across North Yorkshire, including the Yorkshire Dales and the Ripon, Richmond and Northallerton area.

It will explore topics such as service reliability, connectivity and accessibility.

Sir Julian Smith said the survey was an opportunity for people to share their experiences of public transport.

He said:

"Good public transport is vital for many people across our rural communities.

"Whether it's getting to work, education, healthcare appointments or simply staying connected with family and friends, bus services can make a real difference.

"That's why I am encouraging as many people as possible to take a few minutes to complete this survey and share their experiences.

"You do not need to be a regular bus user to take part. "

"If you've faced challenges accessing transport, or if you have ideas about how services could be improved, this is your chance to have your say."

The survey will remain open until the end of July and includes separate questionnaires for individuals and for organisations or community groups.

Responses will be used to help inform future decisions about the planning and delivery of rural bus services across York and North Yorkshire.
