A popular family-run restaurant in Skipton has announced it will close its doors after 15 years in business.
Calico Jack’s, known for its pirate-themed dining experience, confirmed that its final day of service will be Sunday 7th June.
In a statement shared with customers, the management said the decision had been difficult but cited a range of challenges facing the hospitality sector.
The restaurant said rising operating costs, including utility bills and supplier prices, had made it increasingly difficult to maintain affordable menu prices.
They said:
"This is, without doubt, one of the hardest messages we’ve ever had to write.
"When we opened our doors, we had a dream, a lot of hard work, and a little pirate madness.
"We never imagined how many lives would become part of our story.
Over the years we’ve celebrated weddings, engagements, hen nights, birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas parties, family gatherings, and countless special moments.
They added:
"We’ve watched first dates become marriages, children grow up, and families return year after year.
"To every customer who walked through our doors, every family who celebrated with us, every fantastic staff member over the years, supplier, friend, and supporter, Thank you.
"Although our ship is reaching its final harbour, the memories we created together will sail on forever.
"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives for the last 15 years."
Calico Jack’s has become well known locally for its family-friendly atmosphere, themed décor, cocktails and signature dishes, particularly among families with young children.
Customers with valid gift cards have been encouraged to use them before the restaurant closes.
The management said anyone unable to do so should contact the restaurant directly to discuss available options.
The restaurant will continue trading until its final day of service on Sunday 7th June.
