Featuring music from David Dawson, an Ilkley musician who died during the pandemic, Oliver's Journey Home will see Ilkley Grammar school student, Hugh Ameigh, take the main part of Oliver along with members of the Unitarian Music Society and New Horizon Orchestra to play the music.
"It is about a teenager called Oliver who lives with his parents at a Fish and Chip shop in Bridlington on Sea. Oliver is keen on the violin and his parents send him to music college in Huddersfield. He cycles there, and after one year he has made some progress but still has a lot to learn (this is like his Trojan War!). He sets off cycling to go home but half way he gets sunstroke and collapses. He is taken in by the landlord and landlady of a pub called "The Fiddlers Three", where he has a revelation about violin-playing which transforms him. He gets better and cycles on via York where he has another amazing experience (these are like the adventures of Odysseus). Eventually he get home with totally new prospects ahead of him."
