Anyone for tennis? Ilkley Trophy returns in June

Ilkley's set to be Yorkshire’s number one tennis and social destination (as well as the Sunday Times Best Place to Live) thanks to the Ilkley Trophy grass court tennis tournament this summer.

Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club is hosting the event from Sunday 12th to Sunday 19th June.

Tickets for the men’s and women’s tournament, which will see some of the world’s best male and female players compete ahead of Wimbledon, are already selling fast. More than half of the available general admission tickets for the tournament have already been sold as locals and tennis fans flock to the first live tennis event held in Yorkshire since 2019. The event was not held in Ilkley in 2020 and 2021 due to the Pandemic.

A limited number of luxury hospitality packages are still available, offering local businesses and groups a day out for up to 10 people including world class food and drink, fun games and special guests as well as the best Centre Court seats in the house. Food worthy of champions – including the Wimbledon favourite strawberries and cream - will be provided by award-winning local luxury caterers Shoot the Bull, while there will be plenty of Tattinger champagne flowing throughout the day.

General admission ticket holders to this year’s tournament will also be treated to some of the best cuisine from Yorkshire and around the world thanks to a special Street Food Festival being held alongside themed days aimed at making sure the event offers something for everyone. Specialities will include Wagu burgers, gourmet fish and chips (including vegan fish and chips), hand-stretched sourdough pizza and authentic Indian street food.

General admission tickets for a day at the tennis start from £12 per adult and £6 for children. Play will start at 11am on most days, with a complete schedule of matches released prior to each day’s play.

“A day at the tennis in Ilkley is such a special day out for the whole family,” said Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club Chairman Rik Smith. “At Ilkley we’ve got one of the most picturesque locations on the whole tennis tour and people are guaranteed a lovely Yorkshire welcome thanks to our friendly volunteers, plus fantastic food and drink to suit every taste. There’s no better place to be on a sunny summer’s day!”
