Home Secretary visits Keighley for meeting with police and MP

The Home Secretary, Priti Patel, made a visit to Keighley today (Saturday), where she met with the town's MP Robbie Moore as well as local police and families affected by crime.

Ms Patel met with Inspector John Barker and colleagues from Keighley's neighbourhood policing team to talk through some of the frontline policing operations happening locally.

Robbie Moore MP said: "We discussed some of the challenges our community is facing including those linked to drug crime and county lines, anti-social behaviour and speeding, but also increased levels of more complex cases such those linked to mental health. We talked through some of the good partnership work which is happening and recent progress which is being made."

The Home Secretary also separately met with parents whose children have been victims of child sexual exploitation and gang-related grooming over past years and decades.

Mr Moore added: "Following me raising these issues with the Home Secretary in Westminster, I am pleased she came to Keighley today to specifically hear from some families directly impacted, so further action can be taken.

"I want to make our community safer and will do all I can to tackle the harrowing issues which have haunted our community for far too long."
