Jake Bugg and The Charlatans to headline Skipton's Gateways Festival

The line-up for this year's Gateways Festival in Skipton's Aireville Park has been announced, with Jake Bugg, The Charlatans, Cast and Ash among those performing.

The festival returns for its second year on 23rd and 24th July, with Jake Bugg headlining on the Saturday night. The Nottingham-born singer-songwriter is known for tracks including Lightning Bolt, All I Need, Simple As This and Seen It All.

The second night will be headlined by Indie-rock royalty The Charlatans, who have a back catalogue featuring hits such as The Only One I Know, One To Another, North Country Boy, How High and Just When You're Thinkin' Things Over.

Leading the support are 90s favourites Cast and Ash.

Cast - best known for their multi-million selling debut album All Change - will have Aireville Park singing along on Saturday to hits including Alright, Walkaway, Fine Time and Guiding Star.

Then on Sunday second on the bill are Ash, known for tracks such as Girl From Mars, Goldfinger, Oh Yeah, Shining Light and A Life Less Ordinary.

Saturday's line-up is completed by acts such as The Subways, X Factor star Lucy Spraggan, Cassia and Aliensdontringdoorbells, while on Sunday music fans can also see Yorkshire band The Sherlocks, 90s favourites Sleeper, Dream Wife, Lottery Winners, local group The Sheratons and Fame Academy contestant Alistair Griffin.

Completing the Gateways Festival line-up on all stages across the weekend are Callum Spencer, Lucas Watt, Low Lying Sun, The Shakes, Liam Jarvis, The Veese, Hayley Gaftarnick, United As One, Sleepy Jake, Jackson Lake, Max Norman, Mitchmurphy, The Lilacs, The Native, Northern Epidemic, The Capo Amnesty, Stuie J Blenkhorn, Raven Kits, Danny Charles, Bombardiers, Kirsty Brannan and Jo Pybus.

Organisers of this year's event are also offering the next big-thing and any yet to be discovered sensations the chance to compete in a Battle of the Bands competition for a chance to play over the weekend at the festival. Whilst entries have now closed, heats will commence on Friday 4th March at The Exchange, Keighley - with the final of the competition to select winners taking place on Friday 1st April.

Eddie Elliott-Smith, festival director said: “After the success of last year’s festival we wanted to act on feedback and deliver something even bigger and better in 2022. A significant increase in acts over more stages, greater bar choices and an even bigger funfair means in our eyes we are continuing to add something of real value to everything wonderful that Skipton already has to offer.

"Aireville Park is without doubt an incredible setting and anybody who knows the area knows it is perfect for this type of event. We hope it will be a
must-not-miss for all families now and for future years to come. Gateways Festival is here to stay and we will continue to strive for something that people will continue to love and will consistently be an event that people get in their calendar year after year.”
