Run Bolton Abbey event to raise money for Manorlands

The popular Run Bolton Abbey event is returning next month after its absence last year because of the pandemic.

It will be the fourth running of the fundraising event, with different routes available to suit all abilities.

Taking place on Sunday 14th November, participants can pick from a 10k, 10-mile, half marathon or 2.4-mile family-friendly route.

The races will start in waves just after 11am, following the two minute silence for Remembrance Sunday.

Run Bolton Abbey was cancelled last year due to Covid-19, but the previous event in 2019 saw hundreds of participants running in support of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope, which provides expert palliative care, advice and support to people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.

Andrew Wood, Community Fundraising Manager, said: “We hope that lots of people will come and join us for Run Bolton Abbey this year, which provides a unique opportunity to run on parts of the estate not usually accessible to the public, all while taking in the stunning autumnal colours. The funds raised from this event will help us to continue to provide specialist care and bereavement support for local people and their families, filling their last days with love.”

Everyone who takes part in Run Bolton Abbey will benefit from chip timing to record their race time, and will receive a bespoke wooden medal when they cross the finish line.
