Sunflower growing competition raises over £2k for hospice

The Wharfedale Fundraising Group for Manorlands Hospice is now offering prizes for the best photographs of sunflowers after a successful contest to grow the best in the area.

The group is appealing to local people to send in their photos of bright and cheery sunflowers, with a chance to win prizes such as tickets to family attractions, meal-for-two vouchers and farm shop gift boxes.

There is a £5 charge to enter the photography competition, with money going to the Oxenhope hospice which supports people from across Craven, Wharfedale and Airedale with expert palliative care.

It follows the sunflower growing competition earlier this year, which has raised more than £2,000 for the hospice.

Molly Ralphson, Community Fundraiser, said: “The sunflower growing competition has been a huge success and we hope now that budding photographers will spread a little more sunshine by submitting their bold and beautiful images to raise money for a good cause.

“Every pound raised makes a real difference, and will help our teams continue to go above and beyond, filling last days with love and helping to give families a better goodbye. We are so grateful.”

All sunflower images must be submitted via email to molly.ralphson@sueryder.org by Wednesday 1 September 2021.
