The Keighley Towns Fund initiative is seeking the views of Keighley and Worth Valley residents on the various projects which have been proposed by local stakeholders.
The fund, which was set up by the Government at the end of last year, will enable Keighley to bid for up to £25 million to support local projects, focusing on the Government’s levelling up agenda. This covers town centre improvements, skills, community and enterprise, culture and heritage, infrastructure, commercial and residential property.
The Keighley Towns Fund board is chaired by local business owner Ian Hayfield of Hayfield-Robinson Property and includes figures from the town including Keighley College Principal Steve Kelly and local MP Robbie Moore. The consultation has opened today and runs until 4 January.
Commenting Robbie Moore said: “We have a great opportunity to draw down up to £25 million from the government to invest in Keighley and across the Worth Valley. This is just part of the government’s levelling up agenda and it will help us revitalise and kick start our local offering. I am very excited that after considering many local submissions for the funds, the Towns Fund Board, which is made up of private and public sector representatives, we have got to a position where we can consult residents on the proposed projects. All of the projects would help rejuvenate Keighley and the Worth Valley and I would like all to get involved and have their say. It is vital that we garner the views of local residents to see how the Towns Fund can work for you, so would urge all to get involved with the public consultation.”
