New music festival in Skipton confirmed for August

Razorlight, Feeder, Scouting for Girls and Lightning Seeds are among the acts performing at the new Gateways event in Aireville Park.

The festival was originally planned to launch last year but it had to be cancelled because of the pandemic.

As well as music performances, there will be an outdoor cinema night, fun fair, stalls and food outlets. The 3-day festival runs from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th August.

Event Director, Eddie Smith, says: “We saw there was a gap in the market for this type of event and agreed that Skipton was the perfect location. Aireville Park is perfectly located against a backdrop of stunning scenery and is in an ideal setting for families to relax and enjoy themselves.

"Skipton is well known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’ so let’s just say the festival name was definitely influenced by this tag. The team behind Gateways have over 130 years’ experience within the events industry and are excited to welcome people to a safe and well organised event. We hope the public like what we have to offer and it becomes a regular fixture in the annual calendar of events.”

On the Friday night, films will be screened in the park - ahead of the music acts performing over the following two days.

The main stage on Saturday 7th August is headlined by Feeder and will also feature sets from 90s favourites Lightning Seeds and Dodgy.

On Sunday 8th the headline act is Razorlight, who are joined on the bill by Scouting for Girls, Toploader, Artful Dodger and Emily Capell. More acts are also still be announced.

Two slots on stage on the Saturday and two on the Sunday will also go to unsigned acts who can win their place by competing in a Battle of Bands competition running over the next few months. Applications for the competition are open until 8th April at gatewaysfestival.co.uk/battle-of-the-bands/

Day or Weekend tickets are available online at gatewaysfestival.co.uk and can also be bought from Craven Leisure in Aireville Park, Skipton Information Centre on Coach Street or at The Skipton Barbers on Swadford Street.

A number of volunteering opportunities to be part of the festival are also available.
