Police appeal after man dies in Lothersdale motorbike crash

Officers from North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision near Lothersdale on Tuesday evening.

It happened on West Road with the junction for Lothersdale at around 6.23pm on Tuesday 17th May and involved silver Yamaha Thundercat motorbike and a black Ford Fiesta.

Police have confirmed that the rider of the motorcycle, a 52-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver of the Fiesta, an 18-year-old man, was not injured and is helping officers with their enquiries.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene. It re-opened at around 1.30am on Wednesday (18th May).

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or anyone who has any dashcam, is asked to come forward.
