Police appeal for key witness to fatal bike crash on Skipton Old Road

Officers are appealing for a cyclist to come forward as he may have witnessed a fatal motorbike collision near Lothersdale last month.

The incident happened on the top road from Colne to Carleton – known as Skipton Old Road - close to the junction to Lothersdale at around 5.50pm on Tuesday 17th May 2022.

It involved a silver Yamaha Thundercat motorbike and a black Ford Fiesta. Sadly, the rider of the motorcycle, a 52-year-old man from Bacup, died at the scene.

The driver of the Fiesta, a 19-year-old local man, was not injured and is continuing to help officers with their enquiries.

The road was closed for several hours while the emergency services worked at the scene. It re-opened at around 1.30am the following day.

As part of the ongoing investigation, officers are urging a man on a bicycle to come forward who is believed to have been at the scene before the police arrived.
