Public opinion wanted on local restrictions

MP Robbie Moore

MP Robbie Moore has launched a public survey seeking his constituents’ views on localised lockdown in the Keighley and Ilkley constituency.

It is likely that a number of votes in the House of Commons over the next fortnight will decide the extent of restrictions residents will be faced with. Robbie is very keen to ensure Government Ministers take on board constituents’ opinions as he continues to have meetings with them.

Residents in the Bradford District Council area have spent more time subject to more restrictions that the rest of the UK despite nationwide lockdown ending on July 4th. Since localised restrictions were reintroduced Robbie has campaigned for a data-led approach which would did see certain wards being removed that had shown no Covid data consistently for a period of time. Over the last four weeks, we have started to see a significant increase in positive Covid test data across the whole constituency which is why the whole of the Bradford District area has gone back into local restrictions. Robbie Moore is keen to understand residents views on some of the key restrictions that apply both nationally and locally.

Robbie said: “Across the UK MPs have been trying to strike a balance between the wishes of residents and the prevalence of the virus that threatens their lives and communities.

“I hope that with this survey we can capture local feeling and allow residents to have their say on something that affects them and their everyday lives.

“I’d encourage anyone interested to log onto my website and take part so I can feed this information directly back to Government Ministers knowing everyone in Keighley and Ilkley has had their chance to have their say.”
