Silsden barber to retire after 35 years running Cut Italia

It's the end of an era at Silsden barbers shop Cut Italia this week as Gino Familio retires after 35 years of running the business.

One of the team - Molly Frankland - is taking over the running of the business, with Gino's wife Nancy staying on to cut hair three days a week.

Gino has been a familiar face at on Silsden's main street since the late 1980s and, as well as his wife, their son Alex also worked at the barber's and ran it for a few years before emigrating to America.

In a post on social media, Nancy said: "Although he hasn’t cut hair for a few years, Gino has always been a ‘presence’ in the shop, swapping banter with the clients, and entertaining the kiddies.

"He has loved and enjoyed every minute of his business, and is feeling quite emotional. He’s had clients who’ve become friends, bringing their children and even grandchildren for their haircuts. He would like to send his love and appreciation to everyone who has supported him over all these years.

Cut Italia says Gino will be in the barbers this week on Friday and Saturday if customers want to call in and say farewell to him.
