10 year olds from Keighley school debating society quiz local MP

Keighley MP Robbie Moore spoke to Year 5 pupils at Worth Valley Primary School at Bracken Bank in the town on a recent visit.

Mr Moore also met the headteacher Miss Lodge and teaching staff, taking a tour of the school as well as spending time with the Year 5 debating society.

He spoke to pupils about his role as a Member of Parliament, plans to rebuild Airedale Hospital and other local issues.

The MP had high praise for the local school, paying tribute to the debating society for allowing students to learn how to engage in open debate, as well Worth Valley Primary School’s wider learning environment.

Speaking after the visit, Robbie Moore MP said: “Without doubt, one of the best parts of my job is visiting our fantastic local schools to meet with both pupils and staff. It was therefore brilliant to visit the beautiful Worth Valley Primary School to meet with their Headteacher Miss Lodge, teaching staff and their their fantastic Year 5 Debating Club.

"It was great to talk through my role as a Member of Parliament, recent successes locally and to see for myself how pupils at the school are learning how to form their own ideas and opinions before articulating them during debates.

"Worth Valley Primary has a lovely learning environment and during my visit I saw first-hand how their five core values of respect, trust, community, high expectations and one team are central to everything they do. My thanks go to the year 5 Debating society for such a warm welcome and to all of the hardworking staff at the school.”
