Developer Lindum Group has begun handing over more properties on its £21m development in Silsden to Yorkshire Housing to be rented or sold under shared ownership.

The firm says the transfer of between six and eight houses will be completed every two weeks as part of a phased handover at the site on Keighley Road opposite Aldi.

Lindum Managing Director James Nellist said: “We are thrilled to be handing over another phase of this very important development for the area. Affordable housing is one of the key issues we are facing nationally, so it is significant that we can deliver these homes to do our bit to help support our local communities.

“We have a fantastic team working on this site to produce the best quality homes for those looking to get on the property ladder or looking for affordable rent. The whole team has pulled together to overcome significant challenges across the project, including the war in Ukraine, to continue to hand over high quality, affordable homes on time.”

Lindum previously handed over 64 homes in September, with a further 34 homes planned to be completed by Spring next year. In total, Lindum will deliver 156 affordable properties on the development.

Sian Webster, Director of Development at Yorkshire Housing said: “We’re delighted to be working with Lindum to create 156 quality affordable homes in Silsden.

“Yorkshire Housing is committed to building 8,000 new affordable homes across Yorkshire to help ease the housing crisis. We know there is a lack of affordable homes in the Silsden area and this important development will help to provide quality homes where people and families can thrive and put down roots.”

Earlier in the year, the Silsden site won a regional Local Authority Building Control ‘Site Recognition Award’ for site management. The development will now be in the running for the national ‘Best Social Housing Development Award’ next year, as well as a ‘Regional Pride in the Job’ award.
