The charity behind Airedale Hospital is encouraging local students to start their own business and then 'Grow It' to raise money to support local health provision.
The challenge focuses on developing students’ entrepreneurial skills, as well as fundraising for an important cause in their local community.
Students will have the opportunity to start their own small business, such as a car wash or a sweet shop, and they can ‘grow’ their funds to make a profit. Money raised will be donated to Airedale Charity to fund items and equipment for the Hospital that goes above and beyond what the NHS can provide.
Involvement in the project can be used as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, and it can be a useful addition to a CV.
Laura Hepworth, Community Fundraiser at Airedale Hospital and Community Charity, said: “We are so excited to launch the Grow it! Challenge to our local schools.
“Young ones are our future leaders, colleagues and patients and a very special part of the Airedale community. We thought it was the perfect opportunity for Airedale Hospital and Community Charity to work closer with our younger generation and we cannot wait to see the energy and creative ideas that the students come up with.”
To sign up, students will have to complete a Sign me up! form and pay £1 to get the ball rolling. When they’ve completed the challenge, Airedale Charity will send a certificate of completion and they will be added to the Grow It! Champions leaderboard.
