Hinterlands Film Festival have been gathering the sounds of Skipton on a digital sound map, and are now looking for an artist with a connection to Skipton to interpret these sounds through three installations in ginnels in the centre of the town.
The festival returns 17-19 March 2023 and speakers will be installed in 3 jointly chosen ginnels in the centre of Skipton, playing out a ‘Sound of Skipton’ on a loop.
A spokesperson for the festival said: "We’d like 3 ginnels to be creatively transformed through physical installation to reflect the sound that is playing. For example, the sounds of a rainy day in Skipton might be played out amongst a ceiling of umbrellas, sound of sheep might emerge from woolly clouds, or the birdsong of Skipton might play out amongst bird sculptures framing the ceiling of a ginnel."
There is an artist fee of £1500, which is to include all materials and installation. Support is available with installation capacity and equipment.
The deadline for applications is 13 January 2023, further information and an application form is available on the festival website here.
