Can you fix it, or drive it? Keighley bus firm opens its doors to offer jobseekers a new career

Local bus operator The Keighley Bus Company invites new starters and career switchers to find out more about working for the company at the depot open day next month.

Can you fix it – or take the wheel? The bus firm is opening its doors this month to give career switchers and new starters a chance to build a new career for the New Year.

The Keighley Bus Company is inviting people currently working in mechanical engineering and repair workshops to find out more at an open day at its depot on Chapel Lane, Keighley BD21 3DG on Saturday 2 December from 11am – 4pm.

And the bus operator is also keen to talk to those who fancy taking the wheel in the new year for a new start as a bus driver – whether they can already drive a bus or need training.

Parent company Transdev says its package of pay and benefits, including free travel on most buses across Yorkshire and Lancashire plus discounts on gym membership, supermarkets and more, is among the best in the bus industry.

The Keighley Bus Company General Manager Jim Craven said: “We’re keen to meet positive people with the drive to serve our customers across our network serving West and North Yorkshire, including Keighley, Bradford, Leeds and Skipton.

“Our engineering team are especially looking for engineers with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent mechanical qualifications, vehicle technicians and body repairers to come and join us.

“We’re also offering those thinking of switching career the opportunity to drive into 2024 behind the wheel of our modern buses – with an all-new electric bus fleet on its way to our Shuttle route linking Keighley and Bradford, there’s never been a better time to join our team. And it doesn’t matter if you’ve never driven anything bigger than a car – we can train you to the highest standards in our award-winning Academy.”

The open day will give potential recruits the chance to meet depot colleagues and Transdev’s management team for an informal chat about the roles available, to help them decide if a career on the buses could offer a mew start for the new year.

Full details of all opportunities at The Keighley Bus Company and other Transdev companies across Yorkshire and the North West are available online at: transdevbus.co.uk/work-for-us.
