Keighley Musical Theatre Company (KMTC) is proud to announce the casting of Charlie Holmes in the upcoming production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, set to dazzle audiences at the Victoria Hall from the 14th to 21st October.
Charlie, a new but already cherished member of KMTC, will take on the coveted role of the Narrator, bringing her lifelong dream to life on the stage.
A lifelong love affair with the musical has been the driving force behind Charlie's determination to join the cast. Her enchantment with the production began at the tender age of 7 when her grandma and Auntie Sue took her to her first London trip, where she introduced her to the theatre, it was 1992 and the new West End production of Joseph at The Palladium. Her grandma always tells the story of how she was mesmerized from start to finish, captivated by the narrator.
You can usually catch Charlie singing alongside local Bingley band, Sawdust, but her love for singing started that very day when she saw Linzi Hateley take on the role of the Narrator. When the auditions were advertised by KMTC this ignited the flame again, maybe this could be the chance, after all she knew every word from start to finish!
Charlie's love for theatre and her steadfast pursuit of her dream role were undeterred even in the face of adversity. Last July, she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, facing chemo, surgery and radiotherapy, Charlie kept spirits high, in her own words with 'positivity, strength, grace and sass'! When rehearsals started, they couldn't have come quick enough, the treatments side effects took a toll on her emotional wellbeing - rehearsals were a source of therapy.
Joining the cast, she found solace, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of normalcy with the unwavering support of her fellow cast members and the KMTC society played a pivotal role in Charlie's remarkable turnaround.
Charlie Holmes' journey from adversity to triumph is a testament to her resilience, passion for theatre, and unyielding spirit. Keighley Musical Theatre Company is honoured to have her as part of the cast for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
