Celebrate the beauty of cherry blossom at Keighley’s Cliffe Castle

Celebrate the beauty of cherry blossom at Bradford Council’s Cliffe Castle Museum and Park in Keighley on Sunday 21 April between 11am and 3pm.

Get out and about in the park and join artist Lousie Garrett for a painting session in the open air to capture and celebrate the beauty of the blossom trees in the park.

Inside the museum explore the Japanese artifacts in the Art of the Samurai exhibition and join local poet Nabeela Ahmed to create poems linked to some of the myths and legends of Japan and the cherry blossom which is the national flower of Japan.

In the morning (11.15am-12pm) visitors to the park can take part in Pollinator Monitoring Scheme (PoMS) Flower Insect Timed (FIT) sessions with members of the Cliffe Castle Support Group and record the number and type of pollinators.

The PoMS FIT sessions only take 10 to 15 minutes and are free drop-in sessions which are suitable for all the family, though children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet Val at the glasshouse by the flagpole where guidance will be given.

James Steward, Museums and Galleries Manager at Bradford Council, said: “Come to celebrate the beautiful cherry blossom of Cliffe Castle and take part in these creative activities.”
