Community groups invited to take part in Ilkley Christmas Tree Festival

Plans for Ilkley’s sparkling Christmas Tree Festival 2023 are well underway as organisers invite local community groups and charities to take part by purchasing and decorating a tree to showcase their work.

St Margaret’s will once again welcome up to 35 local charities and community groups each with their own beautifully decorated tree to make up a stunning display in church on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 December.

Joanne Tomlinson, organiser, said: “We have already had a great response from local community groups which is fantastic news and we have room for more! We’d love it if more local charities and community groups would like to take part and get creative. It really is a case of the more, the merrier!”

Christmas Trees will be festooned with lights and uniquely styled to capture the essence of each organisation’s unique personality. Visitors will once again have the opportunity to vote for their favourite trees. And, by popular demand, we shall be inviting visitors to bring a pair of new gloves, socks or a woolly hat to decorate the Mitten Tree which will be donated to Nell Bank Outdoor Education Centre.

Live music will be performed across the two days by local musicians, choirs and schoolchildren. And there will be the usual tempting goodies and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

If you would like to take part, please contact Joanne Tomlinson at st.margarets.treefestival@gmail.com. Trees cost £30 each. Lights supplied.
