'Do not travel' warning for Friday from train operator

Local train operator Northern has warned passengers not to travel on Friday and says it expects significant disruption to be caused by Storm Eunice.

Northern says delays and cancellations are highly likely, and that services will be reduced on the Airedale and Wharfedale lines.

There are expected to be just hourly services operating between Skipton and Leeds, Skipton and Bradford, Ilkley and Leeds and Ilkley and Bradford.

Commenting on the disruption to services, Chris Jackson, regional director for Northern, said: “Storm Eunice will cause widespread disruption across the network tomorrow, affecting all operators in the region. 

“As such, we are advising passengers not to travel and to consider whether the journey is necessary.”
