Five arrested during police drugs raids in Keighley

Five people have been arrested at properties across Keighley in an operation to target and disrupt the supply of Class A drugs in the town.

West Yorkshire Police say the operation was led by Bradford’s Precision team with the support from Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team, and other specialist resources. It is also supported with funding from National County Lines Coordination Centre.

At 8am on Thursday (8th December), officers simultaneously executed five search warrants under the Misuse of Drugs act at five addresses, two on Chatsworth Street, Ashleigh Street, Cark Road and Victoria Terrace. A business was also searched as part of the operation on Spearhead Way.

Five men aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested from the addresses and taken into custody on suspicion of drug offences and money laundering.

A large amount of cash was seized in the operation. Enquiries are ongoing by Bradford’s Precision team.

Detective Sergeant Hannah Dixon of Bradford’s Precision team said: “This operation has been part of our ongoing work to target and disrupt the organised supply of Class A drugs on the streets of Keighley and the surrounding areas.

“Class A drugs causes long-term misery to people and their families; it fuels crime and anti-social behaviour in the area which impacts on the community.

“Through working with our colleagues in Neighbourhoods we are able to make the streets safer and stop these drugs in our communities.”

Inspector John Barker who heads neighbourhood policing in Keighley said: “Today’s drugs warrants form part of the ongoing work of Keighley Together, the partnership response to drugs and organised crime in Keighley. I hope today’s action sends a clear message that we all take drug crime extremely seriously and we will do everything we can to keep people safe and get these drugs off the streets.

“Information from the community plays a vital role in tackling drug crime, I would encourage anyone who has suspicions about people involved in drug dealing to contact us.”
