Haworth bookshop selected as one of UK’s favourites in the Times

Wave of Nostalgia, Haworth’s Independent Bookshop, is delighted to announce that it has been selected as one of the Top Ten Independent Bookshops in the UK by readers of The Times Newspaper.

Times readers were asked to highlight favourite bookshops that combined books with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and entries were assessed on elements that can take a bookshop from the ordinary to a centre of the community. Wave of Nostalgia was among the top ten selected from Independent Bookshops throughout the UK

The Haworth shop was described as ‘A skip away from the Brontë parsonage. Aesthetically, it’s beautiful, on a cobbled downhill street — and it’s hardly changed since the 1800s. Wave of Nostalgia openly celebrates women and the LGBTQ community. Downstairs is the cellar, an intimate and welcoming space where many top authors come and read several times a month. It’s a real community event and people travel miles (including myself) to listen to authors and poets read their work. It’s a lovely bookshop where reading and community are celebrated.”

Wave of Nostalgia, finalist in the regional Independent Bookshop of the Year and ‘High Street Heroes’ award, is themed on Strong Women.

Owner Diane Park says “This was a total surprise to us - we had no idea that our customers had put us forward, but are delighted that they did. To be chosen as one of the UK’s favourite Independent Bookshops is something very special indeed and we are all really amazed and proud. Thankyou!”.
