Ilkley fountain: Model unveiled as auction enters 2nd week

A model of the proposed fountain in the centre of Ilkley has gone on display

Ilkley's Fountain Exhibition is now into its second week at the Tinker Gallery on Church Street.

27 artists have donated a moorland-inspired work in support of the fountain auction project, these pieces of art and a scale model of the proposed fountain planned for the top of Brook Street can see when the gallery is open Wednesday to Saturday between 10am and 4pm.

A cor-10 bowl has been used underneath the model to suggest the scale of the existing Victorian stone basin, which will be historically restored before being used to hold the fountain and the water.

You have the opportunity to place a bid for any of the works, and this will culminate in an auction on Saturday 20th April at 2pm when the highest bids will be taken.

A spokesperson for Improving Ilkley said: "A limited edition of the model is also available for £1,700 at exactly the same scale as the one in the exhibition, with all proceeds (£1000) after James Wilkinson’s fabrication costs (£700) going towards the project.

"Anyone who successfully bids over £250, buys a limited edition of the model, or donates above that amount (including all the artists), will be invited to have their names permanently marked at the fountain site as a ‘Keystone Donor'.

"We will be continuing to fundraise and really appreciate all the support that has been shown within the community. Donations can be made to the JustGiving page and are all very gratefully received."
