Ilkley's Coronation celebrations

A number of events are planned in Ilkley for the Coronation of King Charles III this weekend, with Ilkley Town Council hosting two events that it hopes residents will attend and enjoy, along with many others being held throughout the parish.

The Clarke Foley Community Centre will be screening the coronation on a cinema-style wide screen on Saturday with doors opening at 10.30am. A bar with soft drinks and alcohol will be available. Tickets which include afternoon tea cost £15 and are available from the centre.

Ilkley Manor House is holding a day of Family Fun in celebration of the King's Coronation on Saturday from 11am to 4pm! Everyone is invited to join in the coronation-themed craft activities and receive a delightful goody bag. Visitors will have the opportunity to make a crown fit for a king and enjoy refreshments.

Saturday and Sunday afternoon, Martinez Wines is holding 'Grove Garden Park Coronation Celebrations' in the small garden area next to its shop on The Grove, 2-10pm. Musicians and buskers are welcome. Take your own blankets for the lawn or book a table by calling Martinez on 01943 600000. This is weather permitting and own food and drink isn't allowed. In addition at the end of The Grove, Host are doing a outside BBQ and both Number 39 and Cafe J will be open both days.

Real Food Market on The Grove Sunday 10-3pm will have a record number of traders to celebrate the weekend, plus there will be music on the Bandstand.

On Sunday evening, Ilkley Town Council is partnering with St Margaret’s Church to hold a Civic Service for the whole town to commemorate the coronation and celebrate the part that Ilkley’s community plays in national life. The service is open to all and will begin at 6.30 pm in the church.

On Monday evening at 6pm, the Town Council will be hosting a Celebratory Concert at Ilkley’s King’s Hall. High quality local artists will play coronation-themed music and crowd-pleasing tunes for all ages.

You are advised to buy your tickets in advance for the concert to avoid disappointment. Tickets are on sale at the Visitor Information Centre, between the Library and Town Hall, on Station Road for £2.50 each. Tickets will also be available on the door, at the Kings Hall, on Monday 8th from 5.30pm.
