Ilkley's Pedal in the Park returns this week

Offering fun cycling skills, Pedal in the Park sessions organised by Ilkley Cycling Club return to Riverside Gardens. The park offers a variety of safe terrain to challenge the riders.

Starting Tuesday 25th April and run by British Cycling qualified instructors. the weekly sessions cater for youngsters from 4–12 yrs old:

Mini riders (typically 4-6yrs) 5:30-6:15pm: On the point of, or just starting pedalling this session is aimed to build confidence in starting and stopping and manoeuvring around obstacles.

Mini improvers (typically 5-9yrs) 6:15 to 7:00pm: Proficient in the basics, this session builds on the techniques required to navigate more challenging terrain ready to cycle on family excursions.

Youth riders (typically 7-12yrs) 7:00 to 8:00pm: Confident riders are put through skills and competitive sessions to further build on bike handling and group riding capability. Basic understanding of the dynamics of group riding and the ability to ride on more challenging terrain

“We want to see every child get excited about riding a bike.” said Arthur Wilson, Youth Lead of Ilkley Cycling Club. “Pedal in the Park sessions offer a convenient fun activities for children to develop their skills on a bike”.

These sessions provide a stepping stone to other cycling options in the area including, dedicated circuit sessions at the Brownlee Centre on Mondays, Cyclo-cross events, Mountain bike both local and at trail centres, BMX etc.

The sessions are open to all children, and attendance for a fee of £3/£4 is by booking here.
