Bridge enthusiasts from across Keighley have raised hundreds of pounds for a local hospice by organising a charity bridge drive.
Members of Keighley Bridge Club, joined by players from other bridge clubs in the local area, came together on Saturday 26 November for an afternoon of the competitive card game in support of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.
A total of £800 was raised from bridge table fees and a charity raffle, which will help the Oxenhope-based hospice to continue providing expert palliative care and support to people living with life-limiting conditions, as well as supporting their families.
At the end of the event the couple with the highest score were Paul Staincliffe and Sylvia Hall, who were each presented with a bottle of wine.
Committee member Sheila Furness said: "Keighley Bridge Club wanted to raise funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice as it is a local charity and several of our members have personal connections to the hospice.
“We are aware that, as a consequence of Covid, the charity has not been able to fundraise and lost badly needed income to support their work. Our charity fundraising bridge afternoon was one small contribution to fund the valuable work provided by the staff at the hospice."

As a charity we are reliant on donations and fundraising from our supporters, which helps us continue to provide the compassionate care and support we are so well known for in the local area.”
