Keighley Playhouse prepares for hilarious farce

Jack of Diamonds opens at Keighley Playhouse on 1 May

Who said revenge is a dish best served cold? Get ready to laugh and root for the underdogs in the latest Keighley Playhouse production, Jack of Diamonds.

Running between 1 - 6 May, the penultimate play for the current season is a comedy about a financial advisor who has scammed the elderly out of their nest eggs, that will have you cheering for justice as residents take matters into their own hands!

A spokesperson for Keighley Playhouse said: "Join us for an evening of laughs, as these retirees get their sweet, sweet revenge as they take matters into their own hands against a shady investment advisor.

"Swindled out of a significant sum of money by an unscrupulous investment adviser - who make the American fraudster and financier Barney Effward seem like a fine upstanding individual - a group of senior citizens plot together to take their revenge. When news breaks that their trusted investment manager has been arrested for conducting a fraudulent scheme, residential harmony is shattered.

"Serious disruptions to the functioning of the community strike when the scammer ends up in the same home and is recognised by his victims. Faced with financial ruin, the retirees suddenly find themselves confronting the author of their miserable fate when he suffers a medical collapse. Pandemonium ensues when some of the residents try to find a way to exact their revenge, recoup their losses and keep the authorities from discovering their plans.

"Hilarity continues as the friends find themselves plotting a way to get even, upon discovering he’s provisionally transferred to be their roommate in a bid to escape the public’s wrath after his schemes are exposed.

"Being older doesn’t mean any less intelligent or any less fun. The characters in Jack of Diamonds are wildly entertaining and identifiable. They’re quirky and smart and at an age where they speak their mind. When all said and done, age is just a number and it’s priceless – like diamonds!"

Cast includes Kevin Moore, Julia Moore, Gilly Rogers, Bernardine Maloney, Sarah Carr Howard Clements and Tim Lobley.  Directed by Mike Ellison.

Evening performances begin at 7:30pm, tickets are available by calling the box office on 07599 890 769

Season tickets can be renewed or purchased in the Playhouse bar during this production or by telephoning the box office.
