Keighley pub gives 'helping hand' to Airedale's Neonatal Unit

Fundraising at The Dickie Bird Pub at Thwaites Brow in Keighley has raised more than a thousand pounds which has come in very 'handy' for Airedale Hospital's Neonatal Unit.

The £1,123 donation means that premature babies at the special care baby unit are being welcomed into soft and welcoming “hands” - larger-than life hand-shaped comforters, which wrap around tiny babies to make them feel secure and safe and help to reduced stress levels.

Other items purchased from the fundraising event included new fleeces for cots and incubators as well as muslin cloths and items for mothers on the Unit.

Jodie Hearnshaw, head of charity at Airedale, adds: “We are always extremely grateful to receive the help of the Airedale community. Through fundraising and working together, the team at The Dickie Bird have provided incredible support to our Neonatal Unit and some of our smallest patients. Thank you to everyone that got involved.”
