Manorlands appeals for treecycling transport

Does your business have a truck/trailer and a mid January lull?  Maybe you could help Sue Ryder with their Christmas Treecycling collection.

Fundraisers from Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in are asking local businesses with trucks or trailers to help with their 2024 Christmas treecycling campaign.

Each year residents in the following postcodes can take part in the scheme: BD13, BD14, BD15, BD16, BD17, BD18, BD20, BD21, BD22, BD23, BD24 and LS29.

Their tree collection runs from 6th to 15th January. Greenlands Turf and Topsoil Supplies is one such business that helped last year and co-owner Niikki Mollicone explained how. "The second week in January is traditionally slow work wise for us with the truck sat in the yard and it can be a struggle to keep the staff occupied. Sending members of our team out in the truck for 3 afternoons collecting trees filled us with pride and gave us all a real spring in our step at the start of the year. We would recommend other businesses who can spare the staff and a  vehicle for one or more 3 hour shifts to offer to do the same."

Sue Ryder Event lead Andrew Wood said, "If we can increase the number of trees we can collect then we will bring in more funds for the hospice so we are keen to hear from anyone who can help.  We put all the addresses into an efficient order and give our teams the area close to where they live or work as local knowledge helps, its a real fun and rewarding way for staff to spend a few hours, like a treasure hunt but with trees as the treasure."
