New bereavement group to start in Addingham

The Hub above Addingham library will host the group

A new Addingham bereavement group is being set up Jo Onions, a palliative care nurse and grief counsellor.

Jo who runs her own practice from home in Addingham said: “I am currently involved with 2 bereavement groups, one in Skipton and one in Ilkley, with a third starting in Keighley in the autumn.

“Addingham does not have a bereavement group as such, with specialised support available. A lot of the community are elderly and do not have the means with which to attend groups in other areas.”

This will be a monthly group, starting on Monday 2 October and thereafter the first Monday in each month. The group will start at 7pm and is expected to run between one and a half to two hours. It is free to attend and refreshments will be provided.

Jo adds: “I will lead the group and be on hand to provide clinical advice and emotional support. The parish council have kindly allowed me the use of the Hub, located above Addingham library. This is a chance to share your experiences in a safe and welcoming environment. The group is open to all ages and to anyone struggling to cope with a historical or recent bereavement.

“I would be happy to answer any questions people may have on 07927 769400.”
