New classes announced as Keighley Show tickets go on sale

Tickets are now on sale for the Keighley & District Agricultural Show to be held at Marley Fields on Saturday 2nd September.

Thanks to the continuing generosity of Keighley Town Council, specially subsidized tickets are the same price as last year - £5 for all adults age 16 years and over.  Under 16 year olds accompanied by a paying adult will get free admission.

You can save queuing on the day by purchasing advance tickets online at www.keighleyshow.co.uk/index.php/3/435901/ but only up to 21st August. Alternatively, you can pay for admission on Show Day at the same price.

There will be Free Parking or a Free Vintage Bus Service provided by Keighley Bus Museum Trust running regularly between Hanover Street and the showground, via the Railway Station.

New for 2023 include Donkey classes affiliated to the Donkey Breed Society, which welcomes all donkey lovers and promotes and encourages the correct care and welfare for donkeys. There will also be an extended number of classes for Highland Cattle and the Horticulture section is looking for the strangest specimen in the “Wonky Veg” class. The Cattle and Sheep sections each have a “Farmhouse Choice” class where the winning animals will be chosen by a member of the public.

SMJ Falconry will be bringing a selection of their Birds of Prey for both a static and a flying display. As well as being able to find out all about the birds’ features and abilities, there will also be some birds of prey-related fun games and quizzes for children.

Children from Showkids Dance School will be showcasing their talents during the day.. The school caters for children aged from three years to 18, who concentrate on the fun, expressive and creative side of dance.

As well as traditional agricultural showing classes - Cattle, Sheep, Pygmy Goats,  - there are around 60 classes in the Handicraft, Flower Arranging, Art, Photography,  Baking and Produce sections, including some for children, and  over 100 classes in the Horticulture section for novices and experienced gardeners alike.

Other attractions include the ever popular Terrier Racing, Ferret Show & Racing, and a Fun Dog Show.  A wide range of Equestrian classes will be running throughout the day, including Heavy Horses with entries open this year to Shires, Clydesdales, Percheron and Suffolk Punch.  And last but not least, classes for Guinea Pigs.
