Questions for Ilkley Parish Poll confirmed

Ilkley Town Meeting where a Parish Poll was voted for

Electoral Services at Bradford Council have now issued the notice for the Parish Poll on Monday 23 October 2023, confirming the six questions to be asked.

On Tuesday, 3 October 2023, at an extraordinary meeting of Ilkley electors at the King's Hall, a Parish Poll was demanded under The Local Government Act 1972. The following six questions were proposed and agreed:

Do you want a combined town wide 20mph zone with road humps? (proposed by Suzanne Stoker of Ben Rhydding)

Do you want a town wide 20mph speed limit? (proposed by Robert Whitemore of Ilkley)

Do you support having town wide road humps? (proposed by Elaine Toms of Ilkley)

Are you in favour of targeted 20mph zones? (proposed by Catherine Douglas of Ilkley)

Are you in favour of targeted road humps? (proposed by Catherine Douglas of Ilkley)

Do you support Ilkley Town Council spending £87,500 on the proposed scheme? (proposed by Kyle Green of Ilkley)

Five polling stations will be open between 4pm and 9pm on the 23 October and they are:

1. Winter Gardens, Station Road, Ilkley, LS29 8HB

Polling ward 14A-1 to 14A-3433

2. Ilkley Rugby Club, 2 Denton Road, Ilkley, LS29 0AA

Polling ward 14B-1 to 14B-2147

3. First Ben Rhydding Scout Group Hq, Wheatley Lane, Ben Rhydding, LS29 8ET

Polling ward 14C-1 to 14C-1975

4. Kings Hall, Station Road, Ilkley, LS29 8HB

Polling ward 14D-1 to 14D-2448

5. St Johns Church Hall, Bolling Road, Ben Rhydding, LS29 8PN

Polling ward 14E-1 to 14E-2055

Electoral Services have advised that the Returning Officer will be issuing a letter to all electors with details of the arrangements for polling.

Under the Parish and Community Meetings (Polls) Rules 1987 the cost of holding the poll falls on Ilkley Town Council. There are no provisions for electors’ poll cards or for postal or proxy voting. Voting is in person only between the hours of 4pm and 9pm.

The outcome of the poll is no more and no less than an expression of the views of the electorate of the parish who have voted in the poll. It is not binding.
