Silsden Proms returns to Riverside Field on 15th July

The 15th Silsden Proms on the Farm event takes place next month, following a successful debut in its new home on the riverside Jackson’s Field in 2022.

The fundraiser in aid of Manorlands Hospice and Silsden Methodist Church ran for 13 years until 2016 in nearby Brunthwaite before its resurrection last year.

Around 700 people took along picnics and drinks in 2022 and helped to raise more than £8,000. Organisers say they are hoping for an even bigger turnout on Saturday 15th July.

The Last Night of the Proms-style finale will once again be led by Tewit Silver Band, and the night features performances from soloists Sarah Halstead and April Elizabeth plus favourites The 1960 Four. Also on the bill and making their Silsden Proms debut this year are the Hot Aire Concert band.

Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed gazebo and best-dressed chair in the main arena, while there will also be a bottle tombola, raffle and grand auction to raise funds for the two charities.

Rombalds Radio breakfast show presenter and Silsden resident Stuart Clarkson is back to compere the evening and lead the auction, while Robbie Moore MP will perform official duties on the night and representatives from both charities will be there for the evening too.

Lead organiser William Jowitt says: “Last year we were thrilled by the numbers who came along for a fantastic evening of music, dancing and great company. This year is set to be another huge event for Silsden and hopefully will raise a decent amount for Sue Ryder Manorlands and Silsden Methodist Church.

“There was such a great atmosphere last year, and the event really does bring together all generations from our community. We’ve been working on the plans for several months and we can’t wait to welcome people back for another great evening out in aid of these brilliant local causes.

“We still have some opportunities for local businesses to provide sponsorship or donate items for our raffle and auction too, so please get in touch through our website at promsonthefarm.co.uk
