A joint concert by The Skipton Choir and the Skipton Community Orchestra earlier this month raised more than £700 for local charity Dementia Forward.
The summer concert took place at Skipton Town Hall on 1st July, with a full house in the venue to enjoy an evening of song and music.
The concert was organised by orchestra members Catherine Davison and Anita Birch. The 30-strong orchestra was conducted by Jess Mahler and The Skipton Choir led by musical director David Weale.
Catherine said: “We had a fantastic audience who seemed to really enjoy the orchestra’s musical journey around the British Isles. The choir’s repertoire, which included an Andrew Lloyd Webber medley and songs from Queen, The Beatles and Kate Bush also went down a storm. The evening ended with everyone joining in a Proms-style rendition of Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory – the atmosphere was terrific.
“We are also delighted to have raised a good sum for such a worthwhile charity – particularly given this was a free, family friendly event with ticket sales coming purely from donations.”
