The Polar Express train experience coming to Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway

Polar Express is coming to Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway

Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway will be hosting an exciting, magical experience like no other as ‘The Polar Express’ arrives later this year.

Owner of the railway, the Yorkshire Dales Railway Museum Trust, have been given permission by Warner Brothers to operate ‘The Polar Express’ and it will run from November through to December 24th.

Starring Tom Hanks, ‘The Polar Express’ is a popular feature film that features human characters animated using live action and motion-capture computer animation which tells the story of a young boy who, on Christmas Eve, sees a mysterious train bound for the North Pole stop outside his window, and is invited aboard by the conductor.   The boy joins several other children as they embark on a magical journey to visit Santa Claus preparing for Christmas.

Chris Van Allsburg’s story will be theatrically recreated, so families can be immersed in the sights, sounds and intrigue of this classic children’s tale.   Prepare to be surrounded by the magic and wonder of the Christmas season.

The anticipation amongst the passengers is incredible. With everyone wrapped up warm in their cosiest pyjamas, all guests will climb aboard with our friendly chefs helping you to find your seats. When you start on your journey, you’ll be astounded as iconic moments from the movie come to life around you. Singing, dancing chefs will serve everyone the most delicious warm hot chocolate, and glorious chocolatey cookies. From the newest to oldest family members, all are invited to share Christmas dreams and memories with the film’s most beloved characters.

“With ‘The Polar Express’ a very popular film for all the family, we are very excited by this new opportunity to bring our railway to potentially a much greater audience in the lead up to this coming Christmas,” commented Trust Chairman, Rob Shaw.

“We are excited to have developed a relationship with the Wise Owl Theatre Company, who will be utilising professional actors drawn from across the country to bring the best possible ‘The Polar Express’ experience to Yorkshire.”

“As a Charitable Trust, we will be using the proceeds to further develop, maintain and enhance our Grade-II listed infrastructure, steam locomotives and internationally important collection of historic carriages.

"In what is sure to be a very popular event for all the family, tickets can now be booked via our dedicated website – www.ebar.org.uk/polarexpress - The first batch of tickets released has already proved extremely popular, so book now to avoid disappointment."
