The Skipton Choir releases Christmas charity song

The Skipton Choir has released a festive song for peace called Shine Out, which was performed publicly for the first time last weekend.

The song has been written by choir chairman Carol Squire, with the score by musical director David Weale-Davey.

It was performed at the group's Christmas Concert at Christ Church in Skipton on Saturday 2nd December and has now been released on YouTube, hoping to raise funds for British Red Cross.

Carol Squire said: “The song is very much about peace and hope at Christmas and was incredibly well received when we performed it as our finale at the concert. Given everything that is happening around the world at the moment, we felt that by making it available to stream, we could present our song to a wider audience and raise money for an important cause.”

The concert on 2nd December was in aid of Skipton Step into Action and raised £500. David Weale-Davey added: “There was something for everyone – lots of well-known tracks as well as a couple of more considered pieces, including Shine Out. The second half of the concert gave everyone a chance to join in and sing along to a selection of Christmas favourites and evergreens.”

You can make a donation to the British Red Cross in support of the choir's song at justgiving.com/page/skiptonsongforpeace.
