Three more rail strikes planned for November

Northern is advising customers not to travel by train on Saturday 5th, Monday 7th or Wednesday 9th November due to planned strike action.

The RMT said it would continue its industrial campaign until it reached a negotiated settlement on job security, pay and working conditions.

Skeleton timetables have been announced on the Airedale and Wharfedale lines, with no services running to Bradford Forster Square from Skipton or Ilkley - and only an hourly service to and from Leeds.

Services are also expected to be affected on Sunday 6th, Tuesday 8th and Thursday 10th November.

A spokesperson for Northern advises on strike days: “Please only travel by rail if necessary and if you do travel, expect severe disruption and plan ahead - especially the first and last trains of the day. Remember to check your entire journey as other train service providers may be affected.”

Previously a strike was announced for 3rd November has been cancelled to avoid a clash with the Royal British Legion's London Poppy Day appeal.

Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said: “We apologise again for the significant disruption and inconvenience this action by the RMT will cause to our customers.

“We all want to see an end to this dispute and hope that discussions between the industry and trade unions will lead to a resolution soon so that we can avoid more disruptive strikes in the future.”
