Hundreds of hardy souls dived into the cold water plunge bath at White Wells on New Year's Day.

Since 1995, people have queued up to take a refreshing dip in the stone bath, with only the Covid forcing the cancellation of the event in 2021 and 2022.

Mark Hunnebell runs White Wells with Joanne Everall and said said: "We had a total of 262 participants in this year's New Year's Day Plunge, the third highest number.

"The age range was between six and seventy-four and the furthest visitors were from: New Zealand, Tasmania, South Africa and New York - though we suspect they didn't necessarily make their journeys specifically to take the plunge! With others from places all around Britain as well as many locals and regulars too.

"Joanne and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for taking part in what was a great day with a wonderful atmosphere and for their support of the cafe too.

"We look forward to 2024 and welcoming back many visitors, old and new, to White Wells and wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year."
