Wharfe Valley support service receives funding for another year

A support service in Ilkley, focusing on community-based mental health and wellbeing is relaunching due to securing further funds.

The partnership project between Project 6, Keighley Healthy Living and The Cellar Trust was created to be a free and confidential service to adults in Ilkley and surrounding areas, to provide an ‘easy access’ service for people who want to make a positive change to their lifestyle.

Wharfe Valley Pathways has already impacted on the lives of some attendees: “Wharfe Valley Pathways helped me find the courage and confidence to be me and accepted. I have made friends and feel others can have confidence by attending the organisation. I would recommend Pathways as it’s calm, relaxing and no-one judges you. It might be nerve-wracking to begin with but once you feel settled you’re fine”.

Based at Christchurch in Ilkley, the wellbeing focused social group runs every Thursday from 10am – 12pm, and local residents are welcome to ‘drop-in’, the open session is then followed by one to one appointments from 12.30pm – 3.30pm for people who are seeking further support.

The group is facilitated by a range of experienced staff members, from partner organisations providing advice and health coaching on issues ranging from lack of motivation, tackling loneliness to more complex issues. It is a safe space for people who want to socialise and connect.

Vicki Beere, Chief Executive of Project 6, said: “We are very pleased that Wharfe Valley Pathways will continue to be a valuable resource for people across the district. We are very proud of this partnership and this service is a fantastic example of how the voluntary sector can play an essential role in identifying and meeting the specific needs of our local communities”.

The relaunch event will take place on Thursday 7th September from 1pm, and the partner organisations welcome old and new members, health care professionals and other voluntary and community organisations to attend, celebrate and raise awareness of Wharfe Valley Pathways. Refreshments will be served.

To arrange a one to one appointment please call 01535 610180.
