Bradford Council is set to begin work on the improvement and refurbishment of the children’s play area in Victoria Park in Keighley.

The work on the park includes the installation of brand-new equipment for both toddlers and juniors as well as the refurbishment of existing equipment.

Equipment being added to the play area includes a brand-new multi-play unit for toddlers, two new sets of swings including an inclusive basket swing and an inclusive seat, two new springys (one of which is inclusive). There will also be a new junior multi-play unit, a new four-way seesaw and new balancing equipment. New carpet safety surfacing will be installed around the new play equipment.

Repair work and refurbishment will be carried out to existing equipment and the safety surfaces where necessary and the safety gates to the play area will be replaced.

The work scheduled to begin towards the end of January or the beginning of February depending on the weather. The play area will need to be closed while the work is carried out. The play area is expected to be able to reopen in March this year.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “I’m delighted that we are able to carry out these improvements to the play equipment in Victoria Park. I’m sure that they will provide enjoyment for lots of children for many years to come.”
