Airedale Hospital and Community Charity are set to host their second CPR-a-thon event at Morrisons Skipton on Saturday 27 September to raise funds for their Emergency Department Appeal.
In the run-up to the 12-hour event, team members from Airedale NHS Foundation Trust’s Emergency Department and Airedale Hospital and Community Charity will be heading out to 9 Primary Schools within the Keighley and Craven area including Cononley Primary School and Worth Valley Primary School across the two weeks prior to the event. The roadshow will educate the youngsters on the importance of knowing how to perform CPR correctly alongside giving them hands on experience.
This years’ CPR roadshow has been made possible through the support of the CPR-a-thon event sponsors Westbrook Decorators Ltd. The event will be launched live on the day by Your Skipton Radio.
At this years’ 12-hour CPR event in September, the teams will be joined by Todmorden based SPLAT training who will be demonstrating how to use a Defibrillator safely including a “what’s in the bag” tour.
Nicola Denbow, Matron of Airedale General Hospital’s Emergency Department said:
“Teaching over 700 people from the local community CPR at the 2024 event was an incredible achievement.
“This year, we’re really excited to be reaching out to more people including children from our communities to deliver hands on CPR experience. It’s a life-saving skill that many of us won’t need until the time comes but it’s always a good one to have in your pocket.”
From 8am -8pm, there will be resuscitation mannequins to put your CPR skills to the test and a defibrillator for anyone who would like information on how to use one.
Carla Weatherall, Charity Fundraiser said:
“We’re very excited to bring this event back to Skipton and we’re encouraging everyone from the community to get involved even if it’s for 10 minutes.
“You can be sponsored to take part as a team or just come along individually. Our goal is to keep the CPR mannequins going for 12 hours and we’ll need everyone’s help to achieve this.”
