How to listen

You can tune in to your local radio station in one of the following ways:

We’re going to be on DAB!

We were delighted to bring proper local radio back to Skipton on ‘proper radio’ in the coming months.

We plan to broadcast on the new small-scale DAB multiplex covering South Craven, Wharfedale and the Worth Valley using the latest DAB+ technology.

Whilst some older DAB digital radios might only receive DAB stations, the majority of newer devices can receive DAB+ stations as well as DAB, and there are lots of DAB/DAB+ radios available which will give you access to DAB and DAB+ stations.

To receive DAB+ stations you must have a DAB+ enabled radio. The simplest way to be sure is to look for the Digital Radio Tick Mark on the radio or its packaging. All radios that bear that Tick Mark are able to receive FM, DAB and DAB+ stations.

If you are buying a new digital radio, look for the Digital Radio Tick Mark as this means the radio is DAB+ enabled and will receive the available DAB, DAB+ and FM radio stations. If the product does not have the Tick Mark, then read the product description carefully and check that it specifies DAB+.

You can listen to Your Ilkley live on most smart speakers – and in every room of the house!

From then on just say “Alexa, play Your Skipton” and you’ll be tuned in!

If that doesn't work for you, try Alexa, play Your Skipton Radio (and cross your fingers!)

As for Google smart speakers, you need to say “Hey Google, Ask Tune In to Play Your Skipton.”

Other apps

You can find us on some 3rd party apps and websites, including TuneIn. We also hope to be on Radioplayer soon!

What about FM?

Unfortunately Ofcom are not issuing any further FM licences just yet – but thankfully we’re fairly certain that streaming is the future of radio!

Most radio listeners tune in via DAB in their cars, on smart speakers or via other online streaming methods when at home.
