A series of giant Nutcracker models will be appearing across Skipton town centre this Christmas.
The Nutcracker Trail, fully funded by Skipton BID, will run from November 22nd to January 4th. Ten Nutcrackers will be placed at different business locations, with visitors invited to follow the trail, uncover the Nutcrackers’ secret names and enter a prize draw once they have completed the route. The BID hopes the trail will boost footfall during what is traditionally a crucial trading period for shops, cafés and attractions in the town. Families taking part will be able to collect trail maps from Craven Court and Skipton Town Hall, with completed entries posted into a festive post box located in Craven Court. A range of local businesses have donated prizes for the winners, including a sparkling afternoon tea for four at Herriot’s Hotel and a boat trip with Pennine Cruisers. Skipton BID Manager Sarah Howsen said the project aims to support the business community while offering something seasonal for families to enjoy. “Our trails around Skipton always prove to be popular – so what better period to deliver one than at the ‘most wonderful time of the year”. “We’ve organised and funded the Nutcracker Trail to help drive people into Skipton and support our businesses at what is notoriously a key time for them.” “A huge thank you to all of the businesses involved in the trail – and to everyone that has generously donated some fantastic prizes,” “You may start to spot the Nutcrackers around town this week.” The Nutcracker Trail is part of Skipton BID’s year-round programme of events, trails and campaigns aimed at maintaining the town’s appeal as a vibrant destination for both residents and visitors.
