Silsden Community Centre launches fundraising appeal to unlock £10,000 for community project

The Hive is appealing for support from the local community after launching a fundraising campaign that could unlock £10,000 towards a new activity and youth space.

Thanks to the support of an anonymous donor, every pound raised up to £5,000 will be matched pound for pound, meaning donations will be doubled to help fund the next phase of The Hive Regeneration Project.

The campaign aims to create a modern Activity & Youth Room, providing a dedicated space where children, young people and families can take part in activities, access support and spend time together.

So far, the appeal has raised £3,854 through a combination of donations and community fundraising.

Contributions have included £3,000 from Persimmon Homes, £426 raised by Jan Jones after completing the Ilkley Half Marathon, £242 from a fundraising stall at Silsden Gala, and £186 from sales of items at The Hive.

The fundraising team says reaching the £5,000 target would unlock the full £10,000 thanks to the matched funding offer.

A spokesperson for The Hive said:

"Thanks to an incredibly generous supporter, every pound we raise up to £5,000 will be matched pound for pound.

"Together we'll create a modern Activity & Youth Room where children, young people and families can learn, play, receive support and thrive for years to come."

The Hive is encouraging residents, businesses and community groups from across Ilkley, Skipton and the surrounding area to support the campaign and help maximise the matched funding opportunity.
