Skipton Christmas Market cancelled due to storm

Skipton Christmas Market is cancelled.

Skipton's Christmas Market has been cancelled due to incoming strong winds as part of Storm Darragh.

A yellow weather warning is in place throughout the weekend and will remain until 6am Sunday morning.

And as a result, Skipton's Christmas Market has been cancelled.

It was set to run on Sunday (8th December).

But Skipton Town Council has released a statement confirming it will no longer go ahead.

A spokesperson for Skipton Town Council said:

"Due to the adverse weather conditions, particularly wind gusts of in excess of 49mph at the set-up time of 5am, we have had to take the difficult decision to cancel the Skipton Christmas Market this Sunday 8th December.

"Our regular market traders will still be setting up their stalls a little later on either side of the High Street using their anchor points, however, we have had to cancel the rest of the stalls and the stage."

Fortunately, the Skipton Town Hall is holding a Makers Market inside.

The town council added:

"There is also Santa’s North Pole Post Office organised and free for little ones by Skipton BID.

"We are very sorry to bring you this news and thank you very much for your understanding and support."
