Skipton man jailed after spitting at police officers

A man from Skipton has been jailed for two years and three months following a series of incidents in the town.

Craig Robert Boyd, 38, was sentenced at York Crown Court on Friday, 26 September 2025, after pleading guilty to four offences committed on Monday, 14 July this year.

These included breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order, assaulting an emergency worker, being drunk and disorderly, and a Section 4 public order offence.

The first report of Boyd’s behaviour was received at 6.27 pm when a man was seen shouting in the street on Mill Bridge and throwing items at cars.

Over the following hour, further reports came in of abusive and threatening behaviour in different parts of Skipton town centre, including near Pizza Express, the RAF Social Club and Shortbank Close.

Boyd was arrested at 7.23 pm after being seen drinking alcohol and swearing at officers.

During the arrest, he spat in the face of a police officer.

It was later confirmed that he had also breached the terms of a Criminal Behaviour Order.

Sergeant Paul Evans, from the Craven Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“Craig Boyd has been a nuisance in and around Skipton for many years and his behaviour completely spiralled out of control on this particular day.

"It was the persistent and targeted work by officers in Craven that secured his arrest and conviction at court, with excellent help from numerous witnesses and victims who supported the investigation.”
